One of the best trips I've taken in my thirty-six years on this planet! The Wild Man Getaway was everything needed in a fishing excursion. There are three cabins total. Two are "bunk house" style. They sleep six and have the basic amenities. Coffee pot, microwave, and mini fridge. The main cabin on the other hand is freshly re-modeled as of march 2019 and has its own bathroom and kitchenette with a queen size bed for comfort. There is a loft that can sleep 3 more comfortably. The bath house is clean, warm, and laundry facility is readily available if needed. There is an extra big freezer and seal a meal set up so all your processing will be a breeze. I spent almost every night with Danny Volkert and his family by the fire, exchanging stories, cooking, and plain enjoying life more than I have in a long time. Danny and his Father, Frank Volkert who I also had the pleasure of spending time with, takes excellent care of the place.
Just Daniel and Frank made the trip worth taking. They're both so friendly and accommodating I almost felt I took advantage of them enjoying their company. They both helped me find the local charter that took me out fishing (there are so many in that area) the location isn't too far from town, maybe five min. Excellent pizza joint and frankly the Thai food restaurant was good as well. Between the rivers, ocean, lakes, and wildlife the beauty never stopped. I saw moose every day I was there. It was spectacular! Honestly, I cannot endorse anyone but Wildman Getaway. It's the only place I'll ever visit in Alaska again.
